EChristie was Barbies first afro-american girlfriend. She had her own facemold. Introduced in 1968, she escorted Barbie through all the years (with changing faces) and she ist still by her side.Although only three Christie variants were produced with this face, there are differences with the body and hair color within the production series. The early Talking Christies and Twist ‚ n turn Christies had a hair problem – it’s mostly oxidized, so that the dolls have red hairs.
One year after Christies appearance Julia was introduced with the same headmold. Julia based on the TV character of the Nurse „Julia“, played by Diahann Carroll.
Julia was produced in two versions: Twist’n Turn and Talking Julia. The talking Julia spoke a few sentences with the voice of Diahann Carroll.
