In den 1970er Jahren gelangte die junge Schauspielerin Kristy McNichol als „Buddy“ (Letitia) Lawrence in der TV-Serie „Eine amerikanische Familie“ große Bekanntheit. Mattel widmete dem populären Teenager 1978 eine look alike Buddy Doll, die jedoch nur in den USA verkauft wurde. Das Facemold ist sehr gelungen, je nach Blickwinkel kann man tatsächlich Buddys Gesichtszüge erkennen. Auch die typische Föhnfrisur ist im oberen Kopfbereich gut getroffen. Buddy trägt Jeans, ein rotes Shirt mit ihrem Namenszug Buddy und weiße Turnschuhe. Zusätzlich beinhaltet das Set eine gelbe Jacke und Mütze sowie einen geblümten Rock und rote Sandaletten.
Neben Mattel setzte auch die Fa. Mego auf Buddys Popularität brachte eine Kristy McNichol Doll heraus. Die Gesichtszüge sind jedoch nicht so gut getroffen.

In the 1970s, teenage actress Kristy McNichol starred as „Buddy“ (Letitia) Lawrence in the TV series „Family“. 1978 Mattel produced a Buddy Doll Set, that was only available in the US. The face mold is designed to likeness and depending on the angle you can actually see Buddy’s facial features. The typical blow-dried hairstyle is also well suited in the upper head area.

The Set includes the doll and extra outfits. The doll wears pants and shirt, further clothings are a jacket, cap and skirt, so that her look can be combined in different ways. In addition to Mattel, the Mego company also relied on Buddy’s popularity and released a Kristy McNichol Doll. However, the facial features aren’t captured that well.
Eine Amerikanische Familie
In der Serie ging es um das Auf und Ab einer typischen amerikanischen Mittelstandsfamilie. Die Lawrence‘ leben in Pasadena (Kalifornien). Der Vater ist Rechtsanwalt, die (immer verständnisvolle) Mutter Kate ist Hausfrau. Nancy und Willy sind die älteren Geschwister von Buddy, die in der Serie durch die Pubertät begleitet wird.
Nach der Amerikanischen Familie war Kristy McNichol in weiteren Filmen und TV-Serien zu sehen. Aufgrund von psychischen Problemen zog sie sich aber Ende der 90er aus dem Filmgeschäft zurück.
Family
The series was about the ups and downs of a typical American middle class family. The Lawrences live in Pasadena, California. The father is a lawyer, mother Kate is a housewife. Nancy and Willy are the older siblings of Buddy, who is followed through puberty in the series.
After Family, Kristy McNichol appeared in other films and TV series. But due to psychological problems, she withdrew from the film business at the end of the 90s.
