EIn 2016, Mattel patented several new Ken heads with trendy hairstyles. Including three AA Kens. This Afro-American Ken has a modern taper hairstyle. The body (© 2016) including the head adapter is also new. With the new adapter, the head can only be tilted slightly. But it can be removed relatively easily with a slight twisting movement.
After the new Facemold was first released at the end of 2016 with the Fashionistas Ken DWK46 (Hip Hop Hoody), it was unclear for a long time whether it would remain a regular or a one-day face. But with Rafa, a character from the 2021 Barbie film „Big City, Big Dreams“, a second Ken was produced with this facemold. And at the end of the year a third Ken with this mold followed within the Fashionistas Series.

Nachdem das neue Facemold Ende 2016 erstmal mit dem Fashionistas Ken DWK46 (Hip Hop Hoody) vorgestellt wurde, war lange Zeit unklar, ob es häufiger verwendet werden soll oder Eintagsgesicht bleibt. Aber mit Rafa, einem Charakter aus dem 2021er Barbie Film „Big City, Big Dreams“ wurde ein zweiter Ken mit diesem Facemold vorgestellt. Und Ende des Jahres gab es noch einen weiteren Fashionistas Ken mit dem neuen Mold.
