Ab 2010 startete Mattel mit der Monster High Animationsserie und den begleitenden Monster High Dolls so richtig durch. Im Mittelpunkt des völlig neuen Mode-Puppen Konzepts stehen die sechs Teenie-Freundinnen Frankie Stein, Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf, Cleo de Nile, Ghoulia Yelps und Lagoona Blue. Die „Girls“ sind Nachkommen einflussreicher Monster-Familien und besuchen gemeinsam die „Monster High“, eine Schule für Monster aller Art.
Begleitend zu den Filmen brachte Mattel zahlreiche Doll-Serien heraus, die einen Bezug zu den Filminhalten und Charakteren haben oder dem Mattel typischen Mode-Puppen Konzept von Party, Shopping, Beach oder Pyjama-Parties folgen. Zwischen 2010 und 2015 war die Monster High Welt völlig in Ordnung. Es gab jedes Jahr neue Filme, immer neue Puppen Designs und auch immer mehr Monster Charaktere als Dolls.
2016 startete Mattel dann eine Generation 2 bei den Filmen und überarbeite die Molds und das Design der Puppen. Dann war irgendwie die Luft raus. 2017 gab es zwar noch einen neuen Film, aber die Puppen wirkten fantasielos, die Zahl an preiswerten Budget Dolls ohne Gelenke nahm zu. 2018 gab es noch einige lieblose Dollserien, aber keinen Film mehr und Mattel kündigte zum Entsetzen der Monster Fangemeinde die Einstellung der Reihe ein. 2019 war völlig monsterfrei.
Ab 2020 wurde dann doch noch mal eine langsame Wiederbelebung gestartet. Dafür entwickelte Mattel eine ganze Reihe verschiedener Konzepte. Zunächst wurde eine neue Collector (Skullector) Reihe gestartet mit literarischen Horrorfiguren. 2020 und 2021 gab es jeweils zwei „Skullector“ Sets. Dann wurde groß ein Relaunch der Reihe angekündigt. Seit 2022 gibt es wieder Monster High Filme mit neuen Animationen. Die Hauptcharaktere wurden überabeitet und kamen als Puppen der Generation 3 heraus. Gleichzeitig gab es Wiederauflagen früherer Serien, verschiedene Sonderausgaben und weitere Collector-Reihen.

Frankie Stein ist neu an der Monster High und versucht neue Freunde zu finden, wobei sie von einem Fettnäpfchen in das nächste tritt. Der Film ist mit 23 Minuten der kürzeste der Monster High Episoden.
Im ersten Monster High Jahr gab es insgesamt 3 Dollserien mit 17 Dolls + 4 Fashion Packs + 2 Zubehör Packs. Es wurden die sechs Girls (Ghouls) und drei männliche Monster Freunde (Mansters) eingeführt…

Draculaura ⇒ Tochter von Graf Dracula, sie ist 1.599 Jahre alt. With the 2022 reboot she became curvy.
Clawdeen Wolf ⇒ Tochter eines Werwolfs, sehr modebewusst und lieb zu allen Monstern. Daughter of a werwolf with many sibblings. In the 2022 reboot, Clawdeen is the Afro-Latina daughter of a werewolf mother and a human father.
Cleo de Nile ⇒ Zweite Tochter einer Pharaonen Mumie mit Namen Ramses de Nile. The second daughter of an Egyptian mummy named Ramses de Nile.
Ghoulia Yelps ⇒ Tochter eines Zombies und ein Genie, kann aber nur zombiemäßig nuscheln. Daughter of a zombie couple from Canada. Like a zombie, she can only speak in moans and groans. In the 2022 reboot, Ghoulia can speak English now.
Lagoona Blue ⇒ Tochter eines Meerungeheuers und einer Nymphe. Daughter of the gill-man Wade Blue and a sea nymph. In the 2022 reboot, Lagoona is a pink-skinned Honduran sea monster.
Deuce Gorgon ⇒ Sohn der Medusa, wie seine Mutter hat er Schlangen als Haare. Son of the gorgon Medusa. Like his mother, he has snakes for hair. In the 2022 reboot, he has two moms, Medusa and Lyra.
Holt Hyde ⇒ Mütterlicherseits ein Nachfahre von Mr. Hyde, sein Vater ist ein Feuer-Elementarwesen. Wie Mr. Hyde hat er ein Alter Ego names Jackson Jeckyll in das er sich bei bestimmten Triggern verwandelt. On his mother’s side Holt is a descendant of Mr. Hyde. Like his literary ancestor, he has an alter ego and transforms into Jackson Jekyll and back. Holt’s father is a fire elemental. In the 2022 reboot, he is portrayed as the son of the fire elemental Hades Burns and an unnamed female fire elemental.

Die große Neuigkeit für 2022 lautet: Sie sind zurück! Mattel startete eine Neuauflage der orginalen Filme von 2010 mit neuer Animation und brachte eine Musical-Realverfilmung in die Kinos. (In Deutschland 2023). Vor allem aber wurden auch die Dolls wieder belebt. Die Puppen bekamen einen frischen Look und sollen mit leuchtenden Farben und verschiedenen Körperformen und -Größen die aktuellen Trends aufgreifen. Draculaura ist jetzt zum Beispiel etwas kleiner und curvy, Frankie Stein hat eine Beinprothese….
Abgesehen von der Neuauflage der Film / Doll Serie im neuen Look, brachte Mattel auch verschiedene alte Dolls noch einmal neu heraus und entwickelte neue Serien mit den ursprünglichen Dolls. Die Skullector Reihe wurde fortgesetzt und es gab weitere Collector-Konzepte für erwachsene Fans (Haunt Couture, Howliday).
