Ganz ehrlich? Wir hatten den Film „Elvira – Mistress of the Dark“ (auf Deutsch: Herrscherin der Finsternis) schon fast vergessen, aber Mattel hat ihn uns mit einer Monster High Elvira wieder in Erinnerung gebracht. Nach den vorherigen Skullector Editionen mit gruseligen oder bösen Film- und Literaturfiguren, ist Elvira mal eine „Gute“, die nur auf gruselig macht. Mimik und Bekleidung der Filmfigur Elvira (gespielt von Cassandra Peterson), wurden trotz der monsterhaften Überzeichnung sehr gut eingefangen – siehe Foto.
Die Story…
Für alle, die die Horror-Komödie in den späten 1980er Jahren verpasst, oder wieder vergessen haben, darum gehts: Elvira, die exentrische Moderatorin eines nächtlichen TV Horror-Programms, träumt von einer eigenen Las Vegas Show. Daraus wird jedoch erstmal nichts, denn zu ihrem Pech wird sie gefeuert. Glück im Unglück, sie erbt von ihrer Großtante Morgana Talbot (ebenfalls gespielt von Cassandra Peterson) eine Villa in Massachusetts. Dazu gibt es noch Tante Morganas Pudel, dem Elvira umgehend eine pinke Punk-Frisur verpasst, und ein altes Kochbuch. Die Villa ist halb verfallen, aber Elvira schreitet zur Tat und verpasst auch dem Haus einen knalligen Anstrich – sehr zum Unmut der sittenstrengen Nachbarn. Im Verlauf der weiteren Geschichte stellt sich heraus, dass die Tante eine Hexe war, dass das Kochbuch ein Zauberbuch ist und außerdem taucht Onkel Vinnie auf, der hinter dem Zauberbuch her ist. Zwischendurch gibt es großes Durcheinander, als Elvira die Rezepte ihrer Großtante nachkocht. Einmal kommt ein Monster aus dem Kochtopf, ein anderes Mal gerät die ganze Stadt in Liebeswallungen, weil sie falsche Zutaten in den Topf geschmissen hat. Schließlich wird Elvira fast auf dem Scheiterhaufen als Hexe verbrannt, aber am Ende wird alles gut und sie bekommt ihre Las Vegas Show.
Honestly? We almost forgot about the movie Elvira – Mistress of the Dark, but Mattel brought it back to our memory with a Monster High Elvira. After the previous Skullector editions with creepy or evil film and literature characters, Elvira is a „good one“ who only makes a creepy impression. The facial expressions and clothing of the film character Elvira (played by Cassandra Peterson) were captured very well despite the monstrous overdrawing – see photo.
The story…
For those who missed, or forgot, the horror comedy of the late 1980s, here’s the story: Elvira, the eccentric host of a nightly television horror program, dreams of her own Las Vegas show. But nothing comes of it because she get’s fired. Luckily, she inherits a mansion in Massachusetts from her great-aunt Morgana Talbot (also played by Cassandra Peterson). In addition to the house, she inheritsis an old cookbook and Aunt Morgana’s poodle, which Elvira immediately gives a pink punk hairstyle. The villa is half dilapidated, but Elvira takes action and gives the house a garish coat of paint – much to the displeasure of the conservative neighbors. As the story progresses, it turns out that the aunt was a witch, that the cookbook is a magic book and that Uncle Vinnie is after the magic book. In between there is great confusion when Elvira cooks her great-aunt’s recipes. One time a monster comes out of the cooking pot, another time the whole town gets in love flashes because she threw wrong ingredients into the pot.Finally Elvira is almost burned as a witch, but everything turns out fine in the end and she gets her Las Vegas show.
