Barbie Movies & Faces since 2001

2001 begann für Barbie das Mediale Zeitalter und sie wurde der Star unzähliger Filmproduktionen. Barbie ergatterte dabei regelmäßig die Hauptrolle und “schauspielerte” in bekannten Märchen oder Mattel ließ sie neu ausgedachte Fantasy oder Gegenwarts Abenteuer erleben. Viele ihrer Freundinnen und Ken spielten ebenfalls mit. Teilweise wurden aber auch neue Charaktere vorgestellt, die manchmal ein eigenes Face Mold bekamen.

Anfangs stellte Mattel jedes Jahr einen neuen Film vor, daraus wurden bald zwei Filme pro Jahr und teilweise sogar drei. Ab 2017 pausierte die Filmproduktion für drei Jahre. Im Herbst 2021 läuft demnächst der 39. Barbiefilm auf Netflix an. Begleitend zu den Filmen gibt es natürlich auch die “Filmschauspieler” als Puppen und dazu viele Merchandising Produkte. Die Gestaltung der Puppen ist dabei auf die Filmrolle abgestimmt. In den ersten Jahren gab es einen regelrechten Hype um diese Barbies. Ein Teil wurde in geringerer Stückzahl produziert und war schnell vergriffen, sodass diese Puppen  oft völlig überzogene Preise auf ebay erzielten – dreistellige Preise für eine Playline Barbie waren keine Seltenheit. Auch die Puppen zu den neueren Filmen sind nach wie vor sehr begehrt.

Die Übersichten erheben keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit, wir haben längst nicht von allen “Stars” Fotos. This Movie was first time presenting a new face mold, that was developed specially for the movie character of Prince Aidan.

In diesem Film gab es erstmals einen Charakter, für den ein neues Face Mold entwickelt wurde – Prinz Aidan.

The first movie around fairys and the begining of the barbie Fairytopia universe. The film is about fairy Elina who has no wings. Her best friend is the fairy Dandelion. Elina and Dandelion got both a new face mold, which is shared with some other caracters of the movie (Dryad Dahlia with Elina Face, Guardian Azura with Dandelion Face). The two fairys Crystal and Jewelia (sharing the new Crystal face) are two extra fairies who are not on the film’s cast list, but they where issued in the same year.

Der erste Film mit Elfen und Feen als Protagonisten und der Beginn des Fairytopia Emperiums. Der Film handelt von der Fee Elina und ihrer besten Freundin Dandelion. Für beide wurde ein neues Face Mold entwickelt, das sie sich mit anderen Fairytopia Wesen teilen. Die beiden Feen Crystal und Jewelia (beide mit neuem Crystal Face) stehen zwar nicht auf der Besetzungsliste, wurden aber ebenfalls 2005 herausgebracht.

12 little Princesses with the passion of dancing, and many Dolls to play with… The royal cobbler Derek and the Twins Hadley and Isla presented two new face molds.

10. Film – 2007 Fairytopia: Magic of the rainbow

Another Fairytopia adventure around Elina. Mattel presented three characters with new facemolds: Lumina, Glee and Sunburst.

11. Film – 2007 Barbie as the island princess

Prince Antonio got a new face mold – named after him.

12. Film – 2008 Barbie Mariposa (Mariposa and her Butterfly Fairy Friends)

The story is about Mariposa a shy Butterfly Fairy (played by Barbie). Prince Carlos was the only one who presented a new face mold

13. Film – 2008 Barbie and the diamond castle / Barbie und das Diamantenschloss

Mattel has presented the dolls of the muses Dori, Phedra and apprentice Melody with new face molds, which appear to be modified elder face molds. Prince Jeremy is presenting a new male head, not sure, if it was developed for him or the Prince of India, they are both the only dolls, using this face.

Die Dolls der Musen Dori, Phedra und Lehrling Melody hat Mattel mit neuen Face Molds ausgestattet, wobei es sich um modifzierte Face Molds zu handeln scheint. Auch Prince Jeremy hat einen neuen Kopf. Wir wissen aber nicht, ob er für Jeremy oder den Prince of India entwickelt wurde. Die beiden sind die einzigen, für die dieses Face mold verwendet wurde.

14. Film – 2008 A Christmas Carol / Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte (Fairytopia)
15. Film – 2009 Barbie presents Thumbelina / Barbie präsentiert Elfinchen

Barbies tells Kindergarden students the story of Thumbelina – all other dolls are very small fairies.

16. Film – 2009 Barbie and the three Musketeers

Prince Louis was equipped with a new head mold, but not sure if it was developed for him or regular Kens.

17. Film – 2010 Barbie in a Mermaid Tale / Das Geheimnis von Oceana I

Surfer Merliah Summers discovers one day that she can breathe in water… Her friends are Fallon and Hadley. Kayla and Xylie are two super-stylish mermaids. Ken or Steven are not listed on the film cast, but apparently the girls can’t be without boyfriend.

18. Film – 2010 Barbie in a Fashion Fairytale / Modezauber in Paris

Barbie needs a break and goes on vacation to Paris to visit her aunt Millicent, an esteemed fashion designer…

Mermaid Xylie appeared with a new facemold, the modified playline version of the Carnival Face

23. Film – 2012 The Princess and the Popstar

The story is about the young ballet dancer Kristyn – played by Barbie.

25. Film – 2013 Barbie: Mariposa and the fairy princess / Mariposa und die Feenprinzessin
26. Film – 2013 Barbie and her sisters in a pony tale / im Pferdeglück

The most important thing about this film is: We got the information, that the Roberts have family in switzerland. Barbie and her sisters meet their cousin twins Max & Marie. The both got new face molds and new bodys (?). Regrettably they were produced in low quantity and they never appeared again. So they are very rare and hard to find.

27. Film – 2014 Barbie in the Pearl Princess / Die magischen Perlen
28. Film – 2014 Barbie and the secret door / Barbie und die geheime Tür

Princess Alexa (Barbie) reads a book about a princess who has magic. While reading the book the discovers a mysterious door in the garden and enters in a fantasy world. Alexa meets Nori, a fairy missing her wings, and Romy, a mermaid with legs instead of her tail…. Prince Keiran was one of the first with this new Ken face, but not sure, if the mold was developed for him.

29. Film – 2015 Barbie in Princess Power / Die Superprinzessin

Princess Kara of Windemere (Barbie) gets super power after being kissed by a magical butterfly. The new hero begins saving people under the alias “Super Sparkle.”

30. Film – 2015 Barbie in Rock N’ Royals / Eine Prinzessin im Rockstar Camp

Princess Courtney switches places with Erika, a famous rockstar.
