EBarbie: Big City, Big Dreams is the 39th Barbie movie that will be released on Netflix in fall 2021. The Story is about Barbie Roberts (from Malibu) who comes to New York and meets a girl with the same name: Barbie Roberts from Brooklyn. The both become friends and because the film is a musical it’s a lot of singing and dancing.

Accompanying to the movie Mattel presented the black Brooklyn Barbie with a new facemold with a broad opened smile. The mold has full lips and a cute snub nose. Most Facemolds that were released for Barbie movies are only used for this character, but not this time. The idea of Malibu and Brooklyn Barbie was continued with a series around this two girls. Later the Facemold was also used for black Barbies in the playline. So Mattel finally got a black Fashiondoll with the name Barbie Roberts!

DBig City, Big Dreams ist der neueste Barbie Film, der im Herbst 2021 auf Netflix laufen wird. Der 39. Barbie Film ist ein Musical und handelt von zwei Mädchen, die zufällig den gleichen Namen haben. Die allerseits bekannte Barbie Roberts aus Malibu kommt nach New York und trifft dort die dunkelhäutige Barbie Roberts aus Brooklyn. Die beiden werden Freunde und weil der Film ein Musical ist, wird viel gesungen und getanzt.

Für die Malibu Barbie wurde das Millie Face verwendet. Die Brooklyn Barbie tritt mit einem neuen Facemold in Erscheinung. Das Mold hat ein breites offenes Lächeln mit vollen Lippen und einer lustigen Stupsnase. Üblicherweise werden die Facemolds, die für Film Charaktere entwickelt wurden, nur für diesen Charakter verwendet. In diesem Fall ist es anders. Nach den Dolls zum Film, wurde das Facemold auch für die Dolls der anschließenden Serie (It takes two) verwendet. Außerdem tauchten schon bald die ersten dunkelhäutigen Barbies mit Brooklyn Face in der Playline auf. Es gibt nun also ganz offiziell eine schwarze Barbie!
