Avon Barbies honors the Representatives
Some of the Avon Barbies have a close relationship with the company. The 1997 P. F. E. Albee Barbie honors Mrs. Persus Foster Eames Albee the first Avon Representative. The doll wears a very fine dress that corresponds to the fashion of the 19th century. One year later, a second Mrs. Albee was produced. An edition of 1999 with three dolls (caucasian, afro-american and hispanic) honored the contemporary Representives. And the aspect of fragrances was realized with a Strawberry and Lime Barbie.
DAb Mitte der 90er Jahre bis 2010 (?) gestaltete Mattel in Kooperation mit dem Parfum Unternehmen Avon mehrere Exclusive Barbies. Die Fa. Avon wurde 1886 als California Perfume Company gegründet und 1939 in Avon umbenannt. Besonderheit ist, dass die Produkte an der Haustür (bzw. im Haus) durch sogenannte Avon Representatives / Avon Beraterinnen verkauft werden.
Avon Barbies erinnern an die Firmengeschichte
Verschiedene Barbies, die in dieser Zusammenarbeit entstanden, haben einen direkt Bezug zu dem Unternehmen. So erinnert z.B. die Mrs. P. F. E. Albee Barbie von 1997 an Mrs. Persus Foster Eames Albee, die erste Representantin der damaligen California Perfume Company. 1998 gab es eine zweite Mrs. P. F. E. Albee Barbie.
1999 brachte Mattel eine Edition mit drei Avon Representatives heraus, die die Arbeit der mehreren tausend Avon Beraterinnen weltweit honorieren sollte. Sie wurden als Caucasian, Hispanic und Afro-American Dolls produziert. Auch das Thema „Duft“ wurde mit Barbie umgesetzt, so gab es 1998 eine Edition mit einer duftenden Erdbeer und Lemon Barbie.

In the 70th/80th I knew two Ladies who were working as Avon Representatives. I got a lot of perfume and lipstick samples and we children had good fun playing with it. 🙂 I still remember the special fragance of the lipsticks.
