1967 startete in den Kinos das Filmmusical Doctor Dolittle mit Rex Harrison in der Hauptrolle. Mattel widmete dem tiersprachlich begabten Doctor eine 6 inch große Doll, sculped to likness und im Anzug, wie er ihn im Film trägt. Verkauft wurde er in einem Miniset zusammen mit seinem Papagei Polynesia (Stocknummer 3575) und in einem Set mit dem legendären Pushmi Pullyu und Polynesia (Stocknummer 3579). Doctor Dolittle ist in beiden Sets identisch.
Aufgrund seiner geringen Größe, würde man eigentlich keinen Bezug zu Mattels Barbie Puppen herstellen. Für den Mini Rex Harrison wurde jedoch der bewegliche Tutti / Todd Körper verwendet, zumindest das Grundgerüst gehört also zur Barbiefamilie. Während das Gesicht sehr fein modelliert ist und Harrisons Züge sehr gut getroffen wurden, wirken die groben Tutti Hände leider sehr plump und unpassend kindlich. Polynesia, Dolittles Papagei wurde aus einem Pfeifenputzer ähnlichem Material gestaltet.

Because of his small size, the relate to Mattel’s Barbie dolls is not visible on the first sight. But Mattel used the Tutti/Todd poseable body for the Mini Rex Harrison, so he his body is part of the Barbie family. While the face is modeled very finely and Harrison’s features are very well portrayed, the coarse tutti hands appear very clumsy and childish. Polynesia, Dolittle’s parrot was crafted from a pipe cleaner like material.
