Immer, wenn wir denken, unsere Fashiondollz Übersicht listet alle existierenden Molds auf und wir haben von Mattel nur noch neue Molds zu erwarten, werden wir plötzlich auf Dolls aufmerksam (gemacht), von denen wir noch gar nichts wussten. Viri hat uns Fotos von ihrer Pretty Teen Puppe geschickt und wir sind wieder mal überrascht, dass es sie gab… Sie ist eine der Fashion Friends Dolls, die Mattel Anfang der 1990er Jahre exklusiv für die Handelskette Kmart entwickelt und produziert hat. Das Copyright auf den Verpackungen der drei Dolls ist 1990, also waren sie wahrscheinlich ab 1991 bei Kmart erhältlich.
Insgesamt gab es 3 Fashion Friends Puppen by Kmart:
→ Zwei in Barbiegröße (Party Dress #7026 und Swimsuit #7019) mit Barbie Körper (PTR Arms) und einem Facemold, das wie wie eine Abwandlung des SuperStar Face und Star Kelley Face aussieht.
→ Eine Pretty Teen #7010 Doll in Skipper Größe. Für diese Puppe wurde der 1987 Teen Sweetheart Skipper body verwendet. Die Headmarkierung lautet: © 1990 Mattel Inc.
Leider haben wir keine weiterführenden Infos gefunden, wie es zu der Kooperation zwischen Mattel und Kmart kam, wie groß die Auflage war und warum die Serie nicht fortgesetzt wurde. Wenn jemand mehr über die Fashion Friends weiß, bitte einen Kommentar hinterlassen.
Just when we think our Fashiondollz overview lists all existing molds and we can expect nothing but new ones from Mattel, we suddenly discover dolls we didn’t even know they existed. Viri sent us photos of her Pretty Teen doll, and we’re once again surprised that she existed… She is one of the three Fashion Friends dolls that Mattel developed and produced exclusively for Kmart in the early 1990s. The copyright on the packaging of the three dolls dates 1990, so they were probably available at Kmart starting in 1991.
All together there were only three Fashion Friends dolls by Kmart:
→ Two Barbie-sized dolls (Party Dress #7026 and Swimsuit #7019) with Barbie bodies (PTR Arms) and a face mold that looks like a variation of the SuperStar Face and Star Kelley Face.
→ One Pretty Teen #7010 doll in Skipper size. This doll uses the 1987 Teen Sweetheart Skipper body. The head marking is: © 1990 Mattel Inc.
Unfortunately, we haven’t found any further information about the collaboration between Mattel and Kmart, how many dolls were produced or why the series wasn’t continued. If anyone knows more about the Fashion Friends, please leave a comment.
