E2002 Barbie got two new girlfriends: Lea and Kayla. Lea is asian descent and Kayla hispanic. Both share the same facemold, with different skin colouring and face painting. In the Cali girl era the asian Lea got a sunbrown skin and hispanic look. Later she became pale and asian again. Kayla has nearly vanished after 2006, but Lea still exists as Barbies friend.

In the begining the face was only used in the playline. But the face was quite popular in the collector circles. So Mattel added it into the Collector line. The skin of the Collectible dolls spans on all colours from caucasian to african.

DAb 2002 gab es zwei neue internationale Freundinnen für Barbie: Lea und Kayla. Lea ist asiatischer Herkunft und Kayla hispanic. Beide teilen sich das gleiche Gesicht, unterscheiden sich jedoch im Hautton und in der Gesichtsbemalung. 2012 Princess Ballerina Lea W2923 / Variation

This is a variation on the W2923 Ballerina Barbie. Early 2012 this version showed up in shops, it has larger eyes with lighter brown colors and slightly different shaped lips. The difference was not incidental: all Lea Ballerina heads in that later batch had
these larger eyes (as far as I can tell).
The box reads 2011 but this version was only
sold in 2012.
