EThe Fashionistas series startet with new girls and two handsome guys: Cutie and Sporty who used the same new facemold. The head has a new neck adapter that makes the head mobile in all directions. Cutie has a broad smile and fully lips. Just cute ;-))

Probably the Fashionistas serie was intended to be a separate Fashion Doll line, beside the Barbie imperium. In the begining the dolls had all new names, later they were renamed in the well known Barbie, Summer, Teresa. Cutie became Ken and Sporty is today better known as Ryan who got 2011 his own facemold.

D Mit der Fashionista Reihe kamen zwei Männer in der Mattel Fashiondoll World: Cutie und Sporty. Zunächst war die Fashionista Reihe vermutlich als Seitenlinie gedacht, die nichts mit Barbie zu tun haben sollte. Die Fashionistas waren eigene Charaktere mit neuen Namen. Später wurde die Reihe dann doch auf Barbieworld umgeswitched und die Dolls bekamen die bekannten Namen aus Barbies Freundeskreis. So wurde aus Cutie wieder Ken und sein brünetter Freund Sporty heißt seitdem Ryan.

Die Gesichtszüge des neuen Headmolds sind ähnlich wie beim New Look Ken von 2005, wurden aber modifiziert und der Halsansatz wurde abgeändert. Kens mit dem Headmold von 2009 können den Kopf in alle Richtungen drehen – rechts/links und hoch/runter sowie leicht schräg. Die 2005er Version konnte nur „no no“ sagen, also den Kopf nur nach rechts und links drehen.

  1. This site is one of the best for cataloging Mattel molds with all their variations, thanks for the great work you do.
    It took me years to find out who was the Ken head I bought on the secondary market with no references, it seem to be Stepping Out Prom or Barbie in the Pink shoes, both are Target exclusives with the same hair side part.
    Does anyone know why some of these Kens have 2 versions of eyes screening, like Stepping out Prom in these pictures? (But I’ve seen it in other of these Kens too).
    I always prefer the Cutie Ken screening.

      thanks for you nice words, that’s motivating 🙂 Yes it’s much work, countless hours since many years, and really bad paid. The affili-links are just badly used, not enough to pay the hosting and support costs. But we are optimistic that things become better 🙂

    I am sharing this site with all my friends who collect Mattel products and who, like me, have struggled for years to find detailed online info like the ones you see on this site.
    Thanks for pointing out the affiliation to external sites like ebay or amazon, I only noticed this by chance because initially they seemed to me just astags, I will also tell my friends.
    That said, the list of versions of this mold is missing one that I do not see here and that I discovered one day by chance, it was a Toys-R-us USA exclusive from 2013, a set that included Ken aka Prince Carlos and Barbie aka Mariposa Fairy from the Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princesses series.
