©2015 & 2023 Millie closed mouth

EIn 2013 Barbie got a new facial design called „Millie“. As the initial Millie face has an open mouth, Mattel patented in 2015 a second Millie face with closed mouth, used for the playline & collector edition.

Even though they have the same patentmark, the closed Millie face differs in the playline and collector Edition.  The Collector Dolls have smaller heads and the lips are more sharply sculpted. In 2023 the mold was revised. Nyx wrote us: „Her new head is essentially a hybrid of the Playline & Collector 2015 Mold where she has the Playline lip shape but with the Collector head size.“

 Since it’s difficult to identify the heads based on photos or unboxed Barbies, we appreciate your help – if you can examine the head size or the neck stamp more closely, please leave a comment.

DMit dem Millie face von 2013 bekam Barbie wieder einmal ein neues Gesicht. Auf die Millie Version mit geöffneten Mund folgte 2015 eine Millie Variante mit geschlossenem Mund. Das Facemold wird für Playline und Collector Barbies verwendet. Obwohl der Nackenstempel identisch ist, unterscheiden sich die beiden etwas. Das Collector face ist kleiner und die Lippen scheinen schärfer modelliert.

2023 wurde das Millie Face mit geschlossenem Mund überarbeitet. Nyx beschreibt es als einen Kombination aus Playline  und Collector Mold: die Playline Lippenform in Collector Kopfgröße…

    BUT there were so far not many dolls with this face, so we put them all together in a gallery: but now it’s time to separate them in playline and collectors 🙂

  3. Hi!! I just wanted to let you know that the 65th Anniversary Doll (#HRM58) has a 2023 head marking so she’s actually an updated Closed Mouth Millie Sculpt!! Her head is essentially a hybrid of the Playline & Collector 2015 Mold where she has the Playline lip shape but with the Collector head size. Hopefully this is useful information for you!!
