Ryan ist ein Charakter, der erstmals medial in den Barbie Animationsfilmen „Life in the Dreamhouse“ in Erscheinung trat. Später erlebten wir ihn auch in den Barbie Vlogs. Im Dreamhouse wird er als Raquelles Zwillingsbruder vorgestellt. Charakterlich zeigt er sich in den Filmen sehr selbstverliebt und eitel – z.B. hat er eine große Sammlung an Pappfiguren von sich selbst. Nebenbei macht er sich an Barbie ran und versucht sie Ken auszuspannen. Zu Kens Ärger umgarnt er sie ständig mit seinen Liedern. In den verschiedenen Episoden erfährt man außerdem, dass er zahlreiche Phobien hat. So hat er Angst vor Donner und Blitz, vor Delfinen und Zombies…
Im Rahmen der späteren Vlogs wird sein Storyboard noch mal komplett neu geschrieben. Er ist jetzt ein guter Freund von Harper und ein guter Freund von Barbie und Ken. Es gibt keine Rivalitäten mehr und Raquelle ist nicht mehr seine Schwester. Während Ryan in den Dreamhouse Filmen als eitel und arrogant dargestellt wird, hat er im Vlog eine sympatische witzige Persönlichkeit mit viel Sinn für Humor.
Ryan is a character who first appeared in the Barbie animated films „Life in the Dreamhouse“. Later we saw him in the Barbie vlogs. In the Dreamhouse, he was introduced as Raquelle’s twin brother. He is very self-absorbed and vain – for example he has a large collection of cardboard cutouts of himself. He gets to grips with Barbie and tries to steal her from Ken. To Ken’s annoyance, he constantly ensnares her with his songs. In the various episodes he shows numerous phobias. So he is afraid of thunder and lightning, of dolphins and zombies…
As part of the later vlogs, his storyboard is completely rewritten. He is now a good friend of Harper and a good friend of Barbie and Ken. There is no more rivalry and Raquelle is no longer his sister. While Ryan is portrayed as vain and arrogant in the Dreamhouse films, in the vlog he has a likeable witty personality with a great sense of humor.
Als Puppe führte Mattel Ryan erst 2012 in der Fashionistas Wave 1 ein. Die Puppe wurde zwar als Ryan verkauft, ein Bezug zu den Dreamhouse Geschichten wurde jedoch nicht hergestellt. Der erste Ryan sah dem Filmcharakter auch gar nicht sehr ähnlich. Genau wie für Ken wurde für ihn das „Cutie Face Mold“ von 2009 verwendet. Ryan Nr. 1 hat dunkelbraune, gerootete Haare und blaue Augen, die späteren Ryans sind grün- oder braunäugig.
As a doll Mattel introduced Ryan first time 2012 in Fashionistas Wave 1. The doll was sold as Ryan, but he has no connections to the Dreamhouse stories and he didn’t look very much like the movie character . Like Ken, he used the 2009 Cutie Face Mold. Ryan #1 has dark brown rooted hair and blue eyes, the later Ryans are green or brown eyed.
In Fashionistas Wave 2 desselben Jahres, präsentierte sich Ryan mit einem neuen eigenen Facemold (Headmark 2011). Besondere Merkmale des Molds sind eine lange schmale Nase, die Unterlippe ist kantiger und die Mundwinkel nicht so hochgezogen wie bei Cutie. Außerdem wurde seine Gesichtsbemalung mit Ryan-typischen Merkmalen versehen. Er hat jetzt sehr dicke, balkenartige Augenbrauen und grüne Augen. Leider gibt es nur drei (?) Ryans in dieser Ausführung mit gerooteten Haaren.
In Fashionistas Wave 2 of the same year, Ryan presented himself with a new face mold of his own (Headmark 2011). Special features of his mold are a long, narrow nose, the lower lip is more angular and the corners of the mouth are not pulled up as much as Cutie’s. In addition, his face paint has been given Ryan-typical features. He now has very thick, bar-like eyebrows and green eyes. Unfortunately there are only three (?) Ryans with this mold and rooted hair.
Bereits 2012 ließ Mattel das nächste Facemold für Ryan patentieren. Die Gesichtszüge sind identisch, aber er hat modellierte Haare. Mit diesem neuen Mold trat er 2014 und 2015 im Rahmen der Fashionistas Reihe in Erscheinung. Das Mold wurde dann später von Ken übernommen und noch gelegentlich für ihn verwendet.
In 2012, Mattel patented the next face mold for Ryan. The facial features are identical, but now he has sculpted hair. With this new mold he appeared in 2014 and 2015 as part of the Fashionistas series. The mold was then later taken over by Ken and still occasionally used for him.
2015 patentierte Mattel ein weiteres neues Mold, das Ryan (Ryan Stylin Stripes DMF41.) als Erster verwendete. Die Gesichtszüge sind jetzt wieder Ken-typischer: breitere Nase und nach oben gezogene Mundwinkel. Außerdem hat er eine neue Frisur mit hoch gestylter Tolle. Ryan #DMF41 hat einen dunkleren Hautton als seine Vorgänger und trägt eine trendige Brille. Das Facemold wird im weiteren von Ken verwendet.
In 2015, Mattel patented another new mold that Ryan (Ryan Stylin Stripes DMF41.) was the first to use. The facial features are now more Ken-typical: broader nose and upturned corners of the mouth. He also has a new hairstyle with a highly styled quiff. Ryan #DMF41 has a darker skin tone than his predecessor and wears trendy glasses. The facemold was later used by Ken.
2016 wurde wieder ein neues Ryan Facemold patentiert, diesmal mit völlig anderen Gesichtszügen. Er hat einen lachenden, geöffneten Mund und eine breitere Nase. Sein Gesicht wirkt jungenhaft und erinnert entfernt an einen Comic- oder Manga-Charakter. Der Fashionistas Nr. 6 war der erste mit diesem Face. Die exakte Bezeichnung lautet: Color Blocked Cool Ryan DWK47.
In 2016, the next Ryan Facemold was patented, this time with completely different facial features. He has a laughing, open mouth and a broader nose. His face looks boyish and vaguely reminiscent of a comic or manga character. Fashionistas #6 was the first with this face. The exact name is: Color Blocked Cool Ryan DWK47.
Als Ryan für die Vlogs/Dreamhouse Adventures-Ära umgestaltet wurde, bekam er wieder eine neue Frisur. Er trägt in den Filmen einen Man Bun. Diese Veränderung wurde mit einem neuen Facemold Rechnung getragen. Allerdings wird keiner der Man Bun Jungs als Ryan bezeichnet. Das Patentjahr ist ebenfalls 2016.
In the Vlogs/Dreamhouse Adventures era Ryan got again a makeover. Now he looks like Ryan in the Vlogs, but isn’t called Ryan any longer. The mold got a new haircut again with a man bun – like he wears in the movies. However, none of the Man Bun boys are referred to be Ryan. The patent year is also 2016.
