Die TV-Serie handelt von dem amerikanischen Football-Trainer Ted Lasso, der nach London kommt, um die fiktive Fussballmannschaft AFC Richmond zu trainieren. Das, obwohl er keinerlei Ahnung von Fußball hat. Was er zunächst nicht weiß: Rebecca Welton, die neue Besitzerin des Fußball-Clubs hat ihn nur deshalb angeheuert, weil sie darauf spekuliert, dass der Club unter seiner Leitung absteigen wird. Auf diese Weise will sie sich an ihrem Exmann, dem früheren Besitzer des Clubs, rächen. Zunächst erfährt Lasso von allen Seiten Ablehnung, aber durch seine positive, freundliche und lustige Art ist er bei allen schnell beliebt. Auch Rebecca kann ihm nicht lange widerstehen und bereut ihren Plan. Sie gesteht ihm, warum sie ihn eingestellt und wie sie seine Arbeit sabotiert hat und er verzeiht ihr. Fortan geht es den beiden darum, die eher mittelmäßige Mannschaft zu einem erfolgreichen Team zu machen.
Die Mini Doll Reihe wurde von Mattel Designer Suim Noh gestaltet. Alle drei Dolls bekamen sculpted to likeness Facemolds, die sehr gut getroffen sind. Sie haben einen articulated Body und ihre Kleidung ist den Outfits der Filmfiguren nachempfunden.
Ted Lasso is an American comedy series that startet on Apple TV in 2020. The second season followed in 2021 and the third in 2023. Mattel built on the success of the award-winning series and released the three main characters as dolls in November 2023: soccer coach Ted Lasso, soccer club owner Rebecca Welton and marketing director Keeley Jones. The development and production for the doll mini-series must have gone relatively “quickly” at Mattel, as the doll heads have a copyright of 2023 and went on sale in the same year. According to the information on the packaging, no more than 20,000 dolls were produced of each character.
The TV series is about the American football coach Ted Lasso, who comes to London to coach the fictional football team AFC Richmond. This despite the fact that he knows nothing about football. What he doesn’t know at the begining: Rebecca Welton, the new owner of the football club, only hired him because she speculated that the club would be relegated under his management. In this way she wants to take revenge on her ex-husband, the former owner of the club. At first Lasso experiences rejection from all sides, but his positvly and funny nature quickly makes him popular with everyone. Rebecca also can’t resist him for long and regrets her plan. She confesses to him why she hired him and how she manipulated his work and he forgives her. From now on, the two are concerned with turning the rather mediocre team into a successful team.
The Mini Doll series was designed by Mattel designer Suim Noh. All three dolls received sculpted to likeness face molds, which are very well made. They got articulated bodies and their clothing is based on the outfits of the film characters.

Rebecca Welton, gespielt von der englischen Schauspielerin Hannah Weddingham, ist die Chefin von Ted Lasso. Die Doll trägt das Outfit, in dem Rebecca zu einem Treffen mit einigen (alten männlichen) Fußballfunktionären geht. Das Treffen endet damit, dass einer der Herren wütend eine Schüssel mit Essen auf den Tisch knallt und ihr so die Bluse völlig versaut.
