Bei der My Melody Barbie Doll von 2008 kooperierte Mattel mit der Firma Sanrio (Japan), der Markeninhaberin von My Melody. Der japanische Comic-Charakter stellt ein kleines Hasenmädchen dar mit rot r bzw. rosa Mütze und entstand bereits 1975. Im asiatischen Raum erfreut sich My Melody einer ähnlichen Beliebtheit wie „Hello Kitty“.
Die My Melody Barbie wurde von Bill Greening designt und mit Steffie Face produziert.
