EIn the middle of the SuperStar era Mattel presented the certainly most unusual „fashion dolls“ in its company’s history: little dolls with animal heads , called „Gorgeous Creatures“ or Animal Darlings ! Like classic fashion dolls, the animals are „poseable & dressable“ and „with hair to style“. They wear elaborate dresses, some of them are produced with the same fabrics that were used for the SuperStar Barbies during this time and they are decorated with SuperStar jewelry and shoes equipped.
In size they are a little smaller than Skipper. They have got their own body with a narrow waist, full bust, as well as strong arms and legs, so that they appear very feminine and voluptuous. The four different Gorgeous Creatures (cow, horse, pig + hippo) have animal heads with covered eye makeup. Each Darling has its own little story and a „boyfriend“, who can be seen on a little picture in the packaging. Each doll is equipped with a ball gown, hat, shoes, stole, handkerchief and arm warmers. They also have a small pack of accessories (mirror, comb, brush …).
DMitten in der SuperStar Ära brachte Mattel die wohl ungewöhnlichsten „Modepuppen“ in seiner Firmengeschichte heraus: kleine Püppchen mit Tierköpfen, genannt „Gorgeous Creatures“ oder Animal Darlings! Wie klassische Modepuppen sind die Animals „poseable & dressable“ und „with hair to style“. Sie tragen aufwendige Kleidchen, die teilweise aus den identischen Stoffen gefertigt sind, die auch für die SuperStar Barbies in dieser Zeit verwendet wurden und sie sind mit SuperStar Schmuck und Schuhenausgestattet.In der Größe sind sie etwas kleiner als Skipper. Sie haben einen eigenen Körper bekommen mit schmaler Taille, fülliger Oberweite, sowie kräftigen Armen und Beinen, sodass sie insgesamt sehr weiblich üppig wirken. Auf dem Körper tragen sie einen Tierkopf (Kuh, Pferd, Schwein + Hippo) mit überzogenem Augen-Makeup. Insgesamt gibt es somit vier verschiedene Gorgeous Creatures. Jede hat ihre eigene kleine Geschichte und einen „Boyfriend“, der auf einem beiligenden Bild in der Verpackung zu sehen ist. Jede Puppe ist mit Ballkleid, Hut, Schuhen, Stola, Taschentusch und Armstulpen ausgetattet. Außerdem bringen sie ein kleines Pack an Zubehör (Spiegel, Kamm, Bürste…) mit.
