1994 machte Mattel einen Seitensprung in die Welt des Art Déco zum Künstler Erté. Der russisch-französische Illustrator, Bühnenbildner und Modedesigner dominierte den größten Teil des 20. Jahrhunderts die Welt des Designs. Viele Jahre lang war sein Name ein Synonym für eine hochstilisierte neue Kunstform, die später Art Deco genannt wurde.
Mattel wählte seine Theaterkostüme und Bühnenbilder für das Musical Stardust, um zwei limitierte Porzellanpuppen zu präsentieren, die in Kopien der von Erté entworfenen Gewänder gekleidet sind. Wir konnten auf einer Fashiondoll Convention Fotos von der ersten Stardust-Puppe machen, konnten aber nicht herausfinden, ob sie Markierungen am Hals hat und was darauf steht. Mattel hat dem Face keinen offiziellen Namen gegeben (soweit wir wissen), aber auf der Verpackung steht: „Die Puppen tragen eines der 45 exotischen Gewänder, die Erté für das Musical Stardust entworfen hat. Die Puppen sind handgefertigt, handbemalt und geformt, um den unverwechselbar länglichen Look einzufangen, für den Ertè bekannt ist.“
Wir vermuten deshalb, dass die Erté-Barbie ihren eigenen, individuellen Mold bekommen hat. Und da es keinen uns bekannten Namen hat, nennen wir es Erté-Face. Wenn jemand genauere Informationen hat, bitte melden 🙂

1994 Mattel made a sidestep in the world of the Art Deco and to artist Erté. The russian-french illustrator, set designer and fashion designer dominated the world of design for most of the twentieth century. For many years his name was synonymus with a highly stylized new art form which came to be called Art Deco.
Mattel chose his theatrical costume and set designs for the musical Stardust to present two limited Porcelain Dolls clothed in ravishing gownes designed by Erté. We could takes pictures of the first Stardust doll, but couldn’t figure out, if she has marks in the neck and what they say. Mattel doesn’t gave the mold an official name (as far we know) but on the package is written:
„The dolls are wearing one of the 45 exotic gowns, that Erté designed for the musical Stardust. The dolls are hand-crafted, hand-painted and sculpted to capture the distinctively elongated look Ertè is known for.“
So we think, the Erté Barbie got her own individual mold and as we don’t know the name, we call it Erté Mold, as long we get other informations
